No New Posts Linette Love Festival

Started in the early days of Linette because of the feud between the three founding families, which was most of the budding cities population, the Linette Love Festival has grown into so much more than a match making scheme.

The Winter Love Festival is being held from Jan. 23rd to Jan. 26th

No New Posts Fort Carrs Re-Enactment

Fort Carrs was a military outpost during the American Revolutionary War but it was also used during the Civil War as a resupply station for Union troops. During the spring some local history buffs dress up and recreate life during the 1770's for visitors that travel from near and far for a taste of life back then. People sell hand crafted wares from the time period and there are even mock battles performed twice a day!

Hosted by Linette ISD, the Spring Carnival is celebrating it's 25th year! As the years have ticked on the carnival has grown and grown into what it is today. Volunteers, such as faculty, parents, and students, run the booths that range from a dunk tank to balloon animals. It only lasts two days so hurry and join in on the fun!

No New Posts Easter at the Courthouse

Linette is a city built upon traditions and one of the oldest besides the Love Festival is Easter at the Courthouse. Children from the surrounding areas line up at 10 AM the Saturday before Easter to try and fill their basket with chocolaty goodness. Afterwards, the city hosts a blue crab feast for a fair price of 10 dollars. Stop in for some family fun!

No New Posts Withernsea University

Withernsea University, or WU for short, was established in 1801 by one of the founding families of Linette so they could keep their children close to home. Over the last century faculty and staff have strove to earn a place among the ivy league, or even an Ivy Plus mention. Due to this, the standards here are very high at WU. While there are a variety of sports on campus the university's baseball team is above average and often makes it to the final rounds of playoffs. A wealth of academics and recreational pursuits await anyone who can climb to WU's standards.

No New Posts Arts District

Until recently the arts district had seen better days, but as part of a city makeover project the once dreary section of Linette has received a breath of new life. There is a gallery walk on Friday nights featuring local artists which ends at the Bullhead Pub, a local favorite. Along with the Bullhead there are a few college bars scattered around as well as an old office building converted to artist lofts.

No New Posts Main Street

It seems every city in America has a Main Street, and Linette is just the same. It was originally a dirt road in the olden days but was eventually updated to match modern times. Dotted along the street is a collection of shops that have been staple's within Linette for years as well as a few new ones to keep things interesting! Here you can find Between The Lines Bookstore, Geek Chic Comic Shop, & Nonna's Pizza.

With 150 rooms styled in a sleek but understated modern style, the hotel has already seen great success in it's first days with visiting parents and professionals. A restaurant by the name of BB sits on the top floor with panaromic views of the blossoming Linette and surrounding countryside while the hotel bar on the bottom floor is perfect for an after work cocktail.

No New Posts Blessed Virgin Catholic Church

Like a lot of the Northeast, Linette has a very large Irish Catholic population. Built in 1847, the church has been transformed many times over but the building still has the original stained glass from it's earliest days. Unknown to everyone at the time, Blessed Virgin Church was also an emergency stopping point for those looking for freedom on the Underground Railroad.

No New Posts Warehouse District

Along the edge of the eastern side of the city where Chesapeake Bay meets the South River lies the warehouse district. An active center of commerce for the city that contains many manufacturing plants and productions lines. However, at night when the workers all go home for the day loud music fills the air as Overkill is located right on the water's edge.

No New Posts Pocket Park

Amid the sounds of industry is a small park that was part of the recent efforts to revitalize the growing Linette. A local artist was brought in to add some flair and decided on elaborate tiles for the ground. It sticks out like a sore thumb in the middle of the eastern side of the city, but it is surprisingly popular among the workers. Food trucks and hand carts often stop by during lunch.

No New Posts Edgewater Apartments

Edgewater Apartments have seen better days... The walls are thin and there are stains that could be older than your grandparents, but the rent is cheap and the management staff is willing to accept payment a few days late. Don't let the mostly well cared for exterior fool you, this place isn't the Ritz.

No New Posts Eastside Docks

Commercial fishing is still big business in Linette despite the rise in the offices and professional services. Some of the fisherman in the city have been doing this for decades with no plans to stop. Some sell to local markets or restaurants while others sell to bigger companies. Whether it's blue crab, oysters, trout, eel, catfish and the list goes on and on, the Eastside Docks will be your home away from home.

No New Posts The Boardwalk

Reminiscent of other boardwalks along the Eastern United States, Linette's own version is smaller that ones such as Coney Island or the boardwalk at Atlantic City. Built in the 1950's, the small theme park is closed during the winter but reopens during the Linette Love Festival. The boardwalk has several small shops, an arcade, and a few places to eat.

No New Posts The Row

Within the southern sector of the city sits three blocks of red brick row houses, built in the later part of the 19th century. The charming collection of houses, known as The Row, are complete with cobblestone alleyways left over from the horse and cart era of Linette. Several had been sitting in disrepair but they were purchased by the city and refurbished outside as well as inside. Some are rentals while others are owned free and clear by the residents. Despite their curb appeal, parking is a true nightmare.

No New Posts Turkey Point

Turkey Point is a small housing development located on a small plot of land surrounded on all side by the South River. The views are beautiful but the real show stoppers are the houses located within the small gated community. The island only fits 20 homes along with plots of land and the application process is harder than trying to receive government security clearance. But to say it is worth it to live in this neighborhood would be an understatement.

On the southern tip of the peninsula sits a nature park that extends into the waters about a half mile and encompasses 3 square miles of protected lands. It is illegal to hunt and all fish caught must be thrown back or the park rangers can and will issue hefty fines. There are several miles of park trails and even camping grounds if you feel like roughing it for the night!

No New Posts Londontowne Estates

Londontowne Estates is a large scale development with the new burgeoning market for nice middle class homes in the area. With more people discovering how pleasant of a place Linette is to raise a family, this is the ideal spot for block parties and bringing food by to welcome to the new neighbor. The housing development rests snugly between the Rhodes and West Rivers, taking up a large section of land that had previously been unused except by the native animals that called it home. But that's the price of modernization right?

No New Posts Dutchman's Marina

Where the Rhode River splits into several different creeks and tributaries sits Dutchman's Marina. The place is in fact owned by a Dutch man, but that is merely a coincidence. The Hawthorne Inn is a home from home, so come inside, put your feet up and relax!

In the early days of America, the meeting hall was an essential part of town life as they served as both a place of worship and public discourse. The building that would become Linette's Meeting House was the barn of John Linette that was converted to accommodate seating and a pulpit. Located just a ten minute walk north of the city, it's a pleasant trip for an afternoon off.
